As most of you know, Ross and I are doing a little freelance work for our Alma Mater. And with that work we are getting to go to some cool places that we never imagined. For instance, we just came back from Tokyo, Japan! What a treat, right? We had an awesome week and a half where we did a lot of work, saw some awesome places, and got to pretend we were in college again by sitting in class. And just like college, we didn't take notes.
When the time came to leave we thought, "Let's do something that one can only do in Japan." Wanna know what that was?
On our last night...we slept in a capsule hotel. You've heard of them. Basically they're bunk beds with walls.
Ross and I were kept separate, so we had our own private experiences with the pods. I felt they were like a grown ups fort. Ross was a little disappointed they weren't more Jetson-like. But, in the end, they were a fun experience.

It's a hotel, which seems to fit the above qualifications and, when you go to dinner they have turn down service... which I thought was a bit creepy, but apparently is luxurious by most standards. oh, and it's affordable. If that doesn't work out, maybe you just sleep in a tree and call it a house.

Hmmm. Interesting! Just wanted to say that by stumbling across this wonderful little journal, my life has changed completely. I tried to reenact a couple of your scenarios with great success. To make the pods feel like the real thing, I placed a large blanket over my kitchen table. Then I put a small little fan under the table on the one of the chairs. All was well and good, until the power went out... and I tooted! Whoa!

ReplyDeleteMy vote--treehouse would obviously be really cool. If you go somewhere cold, stay in an ice hotel! (or at least visit one...it's probably a very expensive adventure)
There actually is a treehouse resort in India! However, my vote is split between the "crazy house hotel" in vietnam, or one of the "love hotels" in asia.
